Freedom2hear is now a registered member of OSTIA (Online Safety Tech Industry Association). This marks our place within the UK’s online safety ecosystem and reflects the work we’re building in this space. Here’s why it matters to us.

What Is OSTIA?

OSTIA is the UK's leading industry body for online safety technology, bringing together expert companies, civil society, and government to make the internet safer for everyone. Founded in 2020 with the support of DCMS, IWF, NSPCC and others and the NSPCC, it has grown into a powerful collective voice for change.

Its core belief? That safety and freedom are not opposites. That with the right technology and the right intent, we can protect people online without compromising privacy or free speech

OSTIA’s Beliefs and Why We Recognise Ourselves in It

Reading OSTIA's aims felt like reading our own manifesto. They believe online companies should proactively protect their users  as opposed to reacting after the damage is done. So do we. They believe safety should be built into the system from day one. That's exactly how Freedom2hear was designed. They believe in a solution-focused approach. Pointing to what can be done right, not just what's going wrong.
